Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) played their trump card Chris Gayle in the game against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday and it worked wonders for them. The Universe Boss smacked the ball to all parts of the ground scoring 63 runs off just 33 deliveries and got his team off to a flyer. Punjab won the game by just 4 runs as it went down the wire courtesy, MS Dhoni. However, KL Rahul has now warned the other teams to be wary of Chris Gayle as he can haunt them on any day.
Gayle himself has admitted that he is feeling like a 25-year-old person right now and one should not be surprised if he takes the tournament by storm now. He can win games single-handedly if he gets going and surely KXIP would be expecting the same.
Bad news for other teams
KL Rahul, while speaking in the post-match press conference, was delighted that Chris Gayle was back in the action which was a good news for his team. He also warned the other teams over his form and expected that he continues in the same vein. “It is amazing news for our team and bad news for the other teams that Chris Gayle is hitting the ball well. We all know he is a player who can win games single-handedly and demolish attacks on his day and that’s what he did today. We want him and we expect him to continue this form forward,” he said.
KXIP will play their next home game on April 19 against the table-toppers and the only unbeatable side in the tournament so far Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul believed that sticking to their own plans was crucial for them rather than thinking about the opposition. “Every team in the IPL is good, we are going to stick to our plans, we will stick to our strengths, we will see where we can better Sunrisers Hyderabad. Our plans are going to be simple whichever team we face and we will go out there and play aggressive cricket,” Rahul concluded.
