The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Eden Gardens and rolled the visitors over by six wickets. Kuldeep Yadav’s spell of 4-0-20-4 turned out to be pivotal in the context of the match as it jolted the Royals so much so that Ajinkya Rahane’s men couldn’t get a foothold into the encounter.
Kuldeep’s stupendous exhibition of Chinaman bowling also fetched him the Man of the Match award. However, apart from the cricket pitch, Kuldeep has also been seen weaving his magic outside the field of play. Recently, the Kanpur-born cricketer tried his hand in speaking Bengali and he seemed to have nailed it with sheer grace and perfection.
The candid interview
In a recent interview with Anneysha Thakker, a presenter associated with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise, Kuldeep elegantly reverberated what the anchor spoke in Bengali. The entire conversation was in Bengali and Kuldeep didn’t seem to stumble even for once. He mentioned that his favourite poet is ‘Robi Thakur’ (Rabindranath Tagore) when asked about the same.
Kuldeep event went on to the extent of singing a popular Bengali song by the name of ‘Baranday Roddur’ sung by Bhoomi, a popular urban folk music group in Kolkata. Anneysha, impressed by the attempt, went on to remark that the 23-year old cricketer might give her Bengali lessons after a few days. Thereafter, she also taught Kuldeep the manner in which people are greeted in the language.
The Knight Riders are currently placed in the third position on the points table and need another victory to seal their position in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the franchise would be breathing a sigh of relief regarding Kuldeep’s return to form. KKR will now play the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 19.
