IPL 2018: KXIP and MI have a terrific rivalry; tied at 10-10 in all IPL games
KXIP will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their eighth game which they will play at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Friday, May 4.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have been one of the underachieving teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), failing to reach the last-four stage on 8 out of 10 occasions. The 2018 edition, however, saw them playing consistently well and with 10 points in 7 games at the moment, the balanced side led by Ravichandran Ashwin looks set to cruise into the playoff stage this year and better their finalists’ tag of 2014.
KXIP will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their eighth game which they will play at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Friday, May 4, after a gap of nine days. KXIP’s last outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad ended up in disappointment while their last win had come against Delhi Daredevils on April 23. KXIP supporters will hope that this hiatus doesn’t disrupt the team’s momentum.
On the other hand, MI’s title defence campaign this year went horribly wrong as they could win only 2 of their 8 games so far and even winning the remaining 6 games from now on might not ensure them a place in the playoffs. It’s almost time for playing for pride for the three-time champions led by Rohit Sharma.
KXIP and MI have met 20 times in the IPL with each team winning 10 games apiece – a remarkably balanced rivalry given the fact that MI have won the title thrice and KXIP never. However, KXIP were once leading 3-0 and then again took a big lead of 6-3 before MI struck back.
