The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner and all its fans have already started the countdown for the onset of one of the most dazzling and entertaining sporting events of all. The intense battle has already been laid by the eight franchises who would be part of this exciting competition.
The extravaganza will now be carried on the auction table where all the players across different countries will go under the hammer on January 27 and 28. The Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed the list of players from Afghanistan who would be part in the league and also released the details of their respective reserved price tags.
Nabi and Rashid have evolved as true match-winners
In the previous editions of the IPL, leg-spinner Rashid Khan and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi became the first two cricketers from the Afghan nation to be part of the IPL, as both represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 10. While, Nabi was only tried in a few games, but his teammate Rashid enjoyed a successful and fruitful run in the event where he deceived many of the experienced batsmen with his bagful of variations.
The duo went on to be part of various T20 franchises in the different leagues across different nations and contributed with many match-winning performances. Nabi with a reserve price of Rs 50 Lakhs and Rashid with a base price of Rs 200 Lakhs, would be expecting some huge buys in the auctions for the upcoming IPL edition.
Rest of the Afghan cricketers would be looking forward towards a prosperous proposal
Apart from these two spinners, many other Afghan cricketers would be in action in the upcoming IPL auctions, in order to be right to be part of one of the most successful tournaments in the sporting history. Big power hitters like Mohammad Shahzad, who would be coming back after a suspension period, wicket-keeper batsman Shafiqullah Shafaq, Najibullah Zadran and many more would be looking forward to gaining definite proposals in the auctions.
16-year old Mujeeb Zadran, who is currently representing the Under19 Afghanistan team in the ongoing Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, is also named in the above-mentioned list of Afghanistan cricketers who have thrown their hat in order to be part of the IPL.
