The Indian Premier League just dropped the names of all the 578 players that would go under the hammer on the 27th and 28th of January in Bengaluru. While the list had the executive names of the players who have not been retained by the franchises, there also exists the list of uncapped players who are seeking a chance to make their names against the big guns.
One of the major places where the franchises would be fishing is in the uncapped category, and in particular uncapped Indian players who they could get for a throwaway price compared to the hefty price they have to pay for the veterans. The likes of Hardik and Krunal Pandya are some of the names that have emerged from the list of uncapped players, with Mumbai Indians managing to hit the jackpot. This year, too, franchises would be looking to rope in more uncapped players who have proved their worth in the recent domestic season.
The likeliest of the picks for the franchises
While the list consists of some first-timers there also exists some of the IPL veterans who are yet to be capped by Indian in either of the three formats. Similarly, Indian U-19 skipper, Prithvi Shaw is based at 20 lakhs alongside KKR’s Surya Kumar Yadav.
Franchises would outbid each other to get in IPL 10 revelation Rahul Tripathi, who too is available at 20 lakhs. Some of the all-rounders such as Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya and Vijay Shankar are placed at 40 lakhs. Some of the other players that the franchises would be looking at are India’s very own pace-gun Kamlesh Nagarkoti who is available at 20 lakhs. Former Gujarat Lions wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan is available at a slightly higher price at 40 lakhs due to his experience in the tournament.
Ranji Trophy’s hero Rajneesh Gurbani is available at 20 lakhs, with rumours suggesting that the right-arm Vidarbha pacer underwent a trial at the Mumbai Indians.
