IPL 2018: Look who have joined the Kolkata Knight Riders camp
The two players were spotted at the Kolkata airport.
When the Kolkata Knight Riders will take the field in the Indian Premier League 2018 edition, it will be a new look side for them. Coming in to the tournament, the KKR camp have made some serious changes to their side. They have appointed a new skipper in Dinesh Karthik. Several big names including that of former franchise skipper Gautam Gambhir have parted ways with the franchise.
Also, the team has roped in some serious talent from the pool of Indian colts. The fans are in for a delight and a surprise for sure. The Kolkata Knight Riders have already started off their preparations for the season and are raring to take the field. They were recently jolted by the injury of Mitch Starc, that has ruled out the Australian premier pacer out of the tournament.
However, the team has moved on from the jolt and has received a couple of good news as well. The overseas recruits, Chris Lynn and Andre Russell, are reportedly fit again to take the field. Russell and Lynn were two of the star performers for the Knight Riders in the previous season. Lynn, who had left the tournament midway last year owing to an injury, has blasted runs at a strike rate of over 180 during his stay in the tournament.
On the other hand, Russell has been an integral part of the KKR camp for quite some time now. In a recent update, the Kolkata Knight Riders camp recently saw two big names join their squad. Australian cricketers Chris Lynn and Mitchell Johnson have arrived in Kolkata. The official social media handle of the franchise posted pictures of the two arrivals in the camp.
While Lynn is expected to be the opener for the team this season, Johnson could pretty well be the leading pace bowler. With Starc ruled out, Mitch Johnson will now have a greater role to play in the tournament. Over the years, Mitch Johnson has been a successful weapon for the IPL teams like Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians. He would want to replicate his good show for his new franchise, the KKR, as well.
