The 11th edition of the IPL is set to begin on Saturday with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. CSK, who returns to the league after a two year-suspension, will be resuming their rivalry with the MI, the most successful team of the league. CSK bought the likes of Rayudu, Harbhajan and Karn who played for MI in the previous season while the Mumbai team depends on the young talents.
All the key stats and numbers to be looked out ahead of the IPL 2018 opening game:
5-2 – Mumbai Indians’ win-loss record against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. They won 12 out of 22 matches they played against CSK in the IPL.
24 – Number of wickets Harbhajan Singh bagged in the IPL against CSK; the most by any player against CSK. He will be playing for the Chennai franchise from this season. Lasith Malinga’s 23 wickets are the 2nd most for any player against CSK in the IPL. Both Harbhajan Singh and Malinga featured for Mumbai Indians in the first ten seasons but won’t be available for this edition.
26 – Dwayne Bravo’s 26 wickets in the IPL against Mumbai Indians are the most for any player. His 30 wickets in the MI-CSK IPL games are the most for any player. Bravo bagged 23 wickets for CSK against MI and seven for MI against CSK in the IPL.
145 – Runs scored by Rohit Sharma in his previous two outing in the Twenty20 format. He scored 89 against Bangladesh and 56 against Sri Lanka in the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy. He never scored fifties in three consecutive Twenty20 innings.
708 – Suresh Raina scored 708 runs against Mumbai Indians in the IPL which are the most by any other player. He scored those runs in 26 innings at an average of 33.78 with six fifties. Suresh Raina‘s 620 runs in the 24 MI-CSK IPL matches are also most for any player.
MS Dhoni’s 545 runs are the 2nd most runs in the MI-CSK IPL games. He scored those runs at an average of 41.92 and an S/R of 147.69. His 581 runs against MI in the IPL are also the 2nd most for any player after Raina’s 708.
1993 – JP Duminy needs seven more runs for completing 2000 runs in the IPL. He needs to hit one more six for completing 200 sixes in the Twenty20 format.
2987 – Runs MS Dhoni scored in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. He needs 13 more runs for completing 3000 runs in the IPL for CSK.
