The Delhi Daredevils eked out a narrow 4 run win in their most recent encounter against the Rajasthan Royals. It was a match marred by multiple rain interruptions. But the fans were certainly treated with some exciting brand of cricket that went on till the last ball of the match. The match started off as an 18-over per side game. The Delhi Daredevils saw their Indian trio of Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Rishabh Pant batting excellently on the day.

Pant top scored for the hosts with 69 to his name as Delhi Daredevils posted a total of 196/6 in 17.1 overs before rain interrupted again. Iyer also hit a crucial fifty and Shaw scored a brisk 47 with the bat. The interruption saw the Royals being set a target of 151 in 12 overs. The task was a big one but sensational hitting from Jos Buttler kept them in the hunt.

Buttler creamed 67 off just 26 balls to keep the Royals in the run chase. He was supported by D Arcy Short’s 25-ball 44. But both the openers perished in quick succession and the ask became a little too much in the end. K Gowtham tried to keep the hopes alive but his unbeaten 6-ball 18 was not enough for the Royals to cross the line. The Delhi Daredevils won by 4 runs.

Here are the Delhi Daredevils player ratings for the match:

Colin Munro – 1/10

Colin Munro had a night to forget with the bat. Riding on two decent knocks in the previous two games, Munro got his opportunity to open the innings for the side yet again. But the Kiwi cricketer bagged a golden duck in the match and was dismissed by Dhawal Kulkarni.

Prithvi Shaw – 8/10

Young Prithvi Shaw has been a revelation for the Delhi Daredevils this season. Shaw missed out on scoring big in the previous game but he was back to good form in this game. He exhibited some brilliant shots on the day and mustered 47 off just 25 deliveries with four boundaries and as many number of sixes.

Shreyas Iyer – 8.5/10

The DD skipper, Shreyas Iyer, has picked up some very good form as the tournament has progressed. Iyer continued his good run with the bat and scored yet another fifty this season. Batting with Prithvi Shaw, he steadied the ship for the Daredevils after Munro’s early departure. He scored 50 off 35 balls with three fours and three sixes.

Rishabh Pant – 9.5/10

Rishabh Pant was the star of the night for the Delhi camp. The hard hitting batsman was unlucky to have ended on the losing side in the previous game despite his whirlwind knock. On the day against the Royals, he hit another brisk fifty and saw his side through in this game. Pant scored 69 off just 29 balls with 7 fours and five sixes. In the process, he notched up his fastest fifty in IPL – in 23 balls. Also, he holds the Orange Cap now.

Glenn Maxwell – 3/10

Glenn Maxwell continued to let his team down with the bat this season. The Aussie cricketer perished after scoring just 5 with the bat. Later, with the ball in hand, he conceded 21 runs in the only over that he bowled. He got the wicket of D Arcy Short, which was a consolation after being hit for three sixes in the over.

Vijay Shankar – 7/10

Vijay Shankar played a lovely little cameo in the game. He arrived at the crease in the end overs and hit a quick 17 off just 6 balls with a couple of fours and a six to steer the Delhi Daredevils total past the 190-run mark.

Liam Plunkett – 2/10

Liam Plunkett had made a very promising start to his IPL career. His first two games were very impressive for him. However, he seems to have lost the plot now. Plunkett had an off day at work. In the three overs that he bowled, he conceded as many as 37 runs.

Shahbaz Nadeem – 3/10

Shahbaz Nadeem did not have a lot to do in the game. Nadeem got only one over to bowl in the match. He bowled the very first over of the Royals’ innings. He gave away 13 runs in the over.

Amit Mishra – 9/10

Amit Mishra was the game changer for the Delhi Daredevils in the match. When Jos Buttler was going all guns blazing, it seemed that the game was going away from the hosts. But Mishra foxed him and got him stumped in the game. In the two overs that he bowled, he gave away just 12 runs.

Avesh Khan – 1/10

Avesh Khan had a night to forget with the ball. The youngster has been very impressive in the season but in this particular game, he was taken to the cleaners by the RR batsmen. Jos Buttler, in particular, took special liking to his bowling. Avesh leaked 36 runs in the 2 overs that he bowled.

Trent Boult – 8.5/10

Trent Boult has been the most impressive bowler for the Delhi Daredevils this season. He continued to impress with the ball and returned with figures of 2/26 in the three overs that he bowled. The second over that he bowled in the innings fetched him the wickets of Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes. Later, he successfully defended 15 runs in the final over of the innings.
