IPL 2018: Match 4, SRH vs RR – Most Valuable and Liable player of the game
Shikhar Dhawan shared an unbeaten 121-run stand with his captain Kane Williamson for the second wicket.
A brilliant opening weekend of the 2018 IPL season followed by a dull affair between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals with the home side registering an easy win over the Royals. SRH’s bowling depth helped them to restrict the Rajasthan team to just 125/9. The chase began with the hosts losing wicket of Wriddhiman Saha but Shikhar Dhawan guided his team to a comfortable win. The dashing opener shared an unbeaten 121-run stand with his captain Kane Williamson.
The left-handed opener struck an unbeaten 57-ball 77 that included 13 fours and one six. As per the CricTracker’s player value algorithm, Dhawan earns a whopping 84.5 lakhs for his man of the match performance which is more than double than any other SRH player in the game. Krishnappa Gowtham is the liable player of the game as he bagged a duck and delivered only three dot balls which earned him only 0.75 lakhs. SRH’s Deepak Hooda couldn’t make any contribution towards the scoreboard as he neither got to bat nor got a chance to roll his arm.
The new SRH skipper Williamson scored an unbeaten 36 with four boundaries and took the crucial catch of Ben Stokes and sent back D’Arcy Short with a direct hit. His performances in the game were valued at 39.5 lakhs. Shakib Al Hasan and Siddharth Kaul bagged two wickets which valued at 22.25 lakhs and 25 lakhs respectively by the CT’s algorithm. Manish Pandey was bought for 11 crores in the auctions but was restricted to only one catch in the game as Dhawan and Williamson didn’t give him a chance to bat.
Sanju Samson turned out to be the Rajasthan Royals‘ most valuable player for his 49-run knock. His innings was valued at Rs. 51.5 which is nearly five times the next best of his team. Shreyas Gopal was the 2nd highest scorer for RR with 18 as his match performances were valued at 11.75 which is more than half his auction price of Rs. 20 lakhs. Dhawan’s match value is 2.275 times his average match salary as SRH bought Dhawan for Rs. 5.2 crores (Average match salary is approx 37 lakhs).
