The Kolkata Knight Riders have got back to their winning ways in the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League. They beat the visiting Rajasthan Royals in their most recent game to notch up their 7th win of the season. With the win, they have inched closer to the all important playoffs berth. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals are left behind at 12 points with their chances of making the playoffs in a dim light.

Coming to the game, the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik won the toss and opted to field first. He had his heart in his mouth with the RR openers adding 63 runs for the first wicket in just 29 deliveries. Rahul Tripathi and Jos Buttler looked in sublime form on the day. However, neither of the two could play the anchoring knock or cross the 40-run mark. After their dismissal, Kuldeep Yadav scalped four wickets to run through the RR lineup. The Royals bundled out for 142 in 19 overs.

In the run chase, a Sunil Narine blitz hit the Royals. Narine scored a quick 7-ball 21 in the game. Ben Stokes took a couple of wickets to bring the Royals back in the equation. But Nitish Rana (21) and Chris Lynn (45) played sensibly to take their side closer to the target with relative ease. Later, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 41 to steer his side over the line with 6 wickets in hand.

Here are the Kolkata Knight Riders Player Ratings for the match:

Sunil Narine – 8/10

Sunil Narine had a good all round outing in the game. The KKR all-rounder has been a perennial performer for his side. In the game, Narine bowled his complete quota of four overs to return with figures of 1/29 to his name. He took the wicket of Sanju Samson. Later, he blasted 21 off just 7 deliveries during his stay at the crease to give a flying start to the Knight Riders.

Robin Uthappa – 1/10

Robin Uthappa had a bad outing in the game. He was expected to continue the momentum that Sunil Narine had provided with the bat in the first over of the game. But the veteran cricketer ended up getting dismissed for a single digit score in the game.

Nitish Rana – 4/10

Nitish Rana had a very good opportunity to play the anchoring knock for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the run chase. Rana got a good start and stitched a handy partnership with Chris Lynn. He failed to make it big and eventually perished with 21 to his name in 17 balls.

Dinesh Karthik – 9/10

Dinesh Karthik showed nerves of steel yet again and played a good knock for his side. In the crunch game, Karthik ensured that he saw his team over the line. He arrived at the crease at a tricky situation and ended up staying till the very end. He scored an unbeaten 41 off just 31 deliveries to steer his side home.
