The Chennai Super Kings have been riding high on confidence in the ongoing edition of the IPL. Having already made it to the playoffs, the Men in Yellow boasted of a very strong batting lineup as headed to Delhi for their second last game of the season. While a win against the Super Kings would not have fetched anything but pride for the Delhi Daredevils, the former had a lot at stake in the game.

They knew that a win would seal them a spot among the top two in the season, and hence, set them two cracks at the final cherry. But as things turned out on the final day, Delhi Daredevils thoroughly dominated the CSK batsmen to register an easy yet inconsequential win. Coming to the game, the Delhi Daredevils were asked to bat first. After the openers failed to make a mark, it was Rishabh Pant who was to the team’s rescue again with 38 to his name.

Vijay Shankar also chipped with 36 and Harshal Patel played a blitzkrieg 16-ball 36 to see the hosts finish with 162/5 in the stipulated 20 overs. In the run chase, no CSK batsman showed resilience at the crease, save Ambati Rayudu. The swashbuckling opener scored a 29-ball 50 but found no support from other end. CSK eventually could manage just 128/6 in their 20 overs to hand the doubles Ds a 34 run win.

Here are the Delhi Daredevils Player Ratings for the match:

Prithvi Shaw has been a revelation for the Delhi Daredevils at the top of the order. The youngster got a decent start in the game as he hit a four and a six. But he did not look at his fluent best and failed to get going. He perished after scoring a run-a-ball 17.

Shreyas Iyer – 3/10

Glenn Maxwell – 1/10

With the team out of the race for the playoffs, many believed that Glenn Maxwell will be rested in the game to let the benched players get a chance. However, Maxwell got another go and he failed miserably yet again. He got a single digit score to his naame. He failed with the ball too and could not take any wickets on the day.

He finished with figures of 1/21 in the four overs that he bowled.

Avesh Khan – 2/10
