IPL 2018: Match 55, DD vs MI- Weather Forecast
It's a must win encounter for Mumbai at the Kotla.
The top three slots of the playoffs in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have already been confirmed. Mumbai Indians (MI) are one of the contenders to take the fourth position, however, in order for that to happen, they have to overpower the Delhi Daredevils (DD) in their 14th and final league match at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.
Rohit Sharma’s men have been on a rampage following the shambolic start to their campaign. The franchise slumped to defeats in quite a few nail-biters to find their journey in utter shambles, but the team hasn’t bowed to the challenges and steadfastly climbed the ladder. More importantly, with a Net Run Rate of +0.384, they already have a foot in the door of the upcoming stage.
On the contrary, the Daredevils have nothing to lose having already been ousted from the tournament a few matches earlier. Nevertheless, they rolled over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) the other night at the same venue. The Shreyas Iyer-captained franchise has the opportunity to play spoilsport to the visitor’s chances of progression into the crunch encounters.
Hot day in store
The good news for Mumbai is that there are no chances of rain as they need full points in the match to rack 14 points and move to the fourth position. The heat may be a concern as the temperature is expected to be around 37 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius from 4 pm to 8 pm- the estimated duration of the contest. Humidity won’t be much of an issue for the cricketers.
Overall Verdict
The team fielding first will have a task on their hands to counter the heat and need to keep themselves hydrated. Dew is unlikely to play a significant role, the match being a Day-affair.
