Despite being mocked as one of the overaged teams, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended up as the Champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. It was a group of veterans which was fit enough to compete and the age was just a number for them. The 36-year-old Shane Watson stepped up for them in the final when it mattered the most and steered them to their third title. However, after lifting the title and celebrating the same, MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo were involved in an interesting race as the fitness of the duo was tested to the hilt.
As many as 9 players in the squad were over the age of 30 this year for the Men in Yellow and they were managed superbly by the management during the course of the tournament. They also had to cope with a lot of injuries to their key players and the ones who were supposed to the youngsters, but the team came out on top every time they were under the radar.
Dhoni is the fittest
Even at the age of 36, MS Dhoni is one of the fittest cricketers in the world cricket. It goes without saying that he still has a lot of cricket left in him and reinvented himself as the finisher this year. But the most important aspect of the game is running and the master is way better than the youngsters in this aspect. Mahi is known to be swift between the wickets and it is no surprise that he looks to rotate the strike early on in his innings.
On Sunday, after all the celebrations were done, he and Dwayne Bravo, who is two younger than him, were involved in a race. They challenged each other on the 22 yards to check who manages to complete 3 runs faster. It was a close shave as it has been throughout the IPL, and in the end, MS Dhoni sneaked ahead like a boss to win the race. Bravo was close though and gave a tough fight to his captain.
