The Chennai Super Kings have made a roaring comeback to the IPL roster. The Men in Yellow have stormed in to the playoffs and finished on the second position in the points table. They are now set to lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 1 on Tuesday. The CSK skipper, MS Dhoni, is obviously a very happy man to his side make it to the playoffs.

It is worth noting that the Chennai Super Kings have made it to the playoffs of the IPL in every edition of the tournament that they have played. And it has been MS Dhoni, who has successfully led them into the business end of the season. As the 2018 edition of the IPL was about to get underway, the CSK squad was under the scrutiny for having ‘elderly’ players. Many mocked them as the ‘Chennai Senior Kings’.

Now, with their performances, CSK have all critics in some fine fashion. After the team’s recent win in the last league game against the Kings XI Punjab, MS Dhoni took time to speak about the same aspect. He remarked that the owners of the team have been brilliant. They have backed the players. And he noted that his team made his task look very easy in the tournament.

“Owners have been brilliant. We have a set of people who are close to the players. They have a history of understanding the game. That makes the job easy for the captain. Also if you don’t have a good team, it becomes difficult. We kept adding players and they kept performing,” MS Dhoni remarked after the win.

The big shift

Adding further on the same note, Dhoni remarked that the actual challenge for the Chennai Super Kings will arrive in a couple of years. That will be the time, when senior players like him will not fit in to the scheme of things for the shortest format of the game. Well, was that a subtle hint that Dhoni has set a time frame of two years for himself in the IPL?

“The big shift will be after two years, where most of these players won’t be there. Maybe they won’t be fit for the shortest format. Looking at ten years, it has been very good for us,” he added further on the same note.
