IPL 2018: MS Dhoni shares what their celebration plans are after winning the IPL

Chennai Super Kings scripted a brilliant return to the Indian Premier League, not only by living up to their reputation of being the most consistent team but also clinching their third title in the end. An outstanding inning by Shane Watson (117 off 57) helped them beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. But everybody knows how team game is the key factor behind the success of CSK.

Once the hands were shaking, greetings exchanged and the customary awards and prizes were given away, the post-match presentation saw the very familiar scene of MS Dhoni going up to the podium as the winning captain of the night.

No elaborate celebration plans for MS Dhoni and CSK

When Sanjay Manjrekar asked him about the team’s plans of celebrating the win, he said, “No plans to celebrate as of now. We are going to Chennai tomorrow, meet a few people, the fans and some people who are close to the franchise. But we’ll have a get-together in the hotel and celebrate.”

In an event before the final, he expressed his regret about not being able to play their home matches in Chennai. The team has an unbelievable fan base throughout the country, and most of the stands at Wankhede were covered in yellow tonight. But Chepauk was like a fortress to the team, and they had to swap it for Pune for political and administrative reasons.

CSK only got to play one match in Chennai, and it is most probably for making it up to the supporters, the team will be travelling to the home city the first thing on Monday.

Looking forward

MSD also had some fitting replies for those who constantly tagged CSK as an aged team, and said that the players were over their prime and would fail to show the agility of youngsters. But like always, MS explained how he gives more importance to experience and fitness than the aspect of age.

“We talked a lot about age but what matters is the fitness,” he said, “Lot of people talk about numbers, statistics, so tonight’s 27th, my jersey number is 7, and this was our seventh final. Enough reasons to win it. But none of these reasons matter, what matters is that we’ve won it in the end,” MS said before that with a hint of humour.
