IPL 2018: Mujeeb Ur Rahman doubtful for the game against RCB

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are all set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a crucial game at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. But they have been jolted with an injury to their mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. He was hit on the hand by Sunil Narine during the last match of Punjab against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and had left the field after being in severe pain. However, it is still not clear if he is fully recovered from the blow and it is very much likely that KXIP might decide to rest him for the most important game.

The incident had occurred in the fourth over of the innings when Narine had slammed the ball straight towards Mujeeb which he tried to grab off his own bowling and in the process got injured. According to the reports in India Today, there is a possibility that the team management might not risk playing him in this game which will also be a jolt for them given that they are desperately in need of a victory.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman has played every game this season for Punjab and has performed exceptionally picking 14 wickets. He has also been economical during his spell and has kept the batsmen guessing courtesy his variations.

Who will replace him?

If Mujeeb fails to get fit in time for an all-important game against RCB, Punjab might bring in Ben Dwarshius of Australia who has been warming the bench and has not played even a single game yet. Also, there is a possibility that they decide to strengthen their batting by including either Marcus Stoinis or David Miller and include the leg-spinner in Pardeep Sahu in the team. In any case, they will have to win the game else their chances to qualify for the playoffs will jeopardise with other teams also closing in on with crucial victories.
