The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is not very far away. With the tournament approaching, all the franchises are making several official signings and announcements. In a recent update, the defending champions Mumbai Indians have inked a new sponsorship deal for the upcoming season. The deal has been signed for a year.
As per the recent reports in SportStar, the Mumbai Indians have signed a one year deal with one of India’s leading online travel company, Goibibo, as its principal sponsor for a year. As per the new signing, the Mumbai camp will sport the logo of their new sponsors on their jerseys in the upcoming season. Previously, the Mumbai camp has been sponsored by big names like Idea and Videocon DTH.
“We are delighted to partner with Mumbai Indians and reach out to millions of IPL and Mumbai Indian fans through this association. IPL is one of the most loved and watched sporting event in the country and the association with Mumbai Indians present a consumer-focused brand like ours a unique opportunity to deepen our engagement with customers in a truly innovative manner,” quoted Saujanya Shrivastava, Group CMO, MakeMyTrip.

Meanwhile, the franchise has also expressed their happiness over their new association with the travel giant. A spokesperson from the Mumbai camp remarked that Goibibo is one of the leaders in the market where it itrades and hence, it is a great brand signing for the franchise.
“We are thrilled to have a new category in Goibibo as part of brand association with Mumbai Indians. As a brand that has strong resonance with new-age Indians on the move, Goibibo will be a perfect partner to the Mumbai Indians,” the spokesperson of the MI camp stated.
The Mumbai Indians have a very exciting schedule for the season. They will be playing the returning side Chennai Super Kings in the season opener this year. They will enter the season as the defending champions after having beaten Rising Pune Supergiant in the finals last year.
