In what was an important encounter for both the teams, Kolkata Knight Riders went on to produce a sensational victory. With this win, they’re now at the third position on the points table. A victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last encounter will help them seal their spot in the playoffs.
During the game as Rajasthan Royals got bundled for 142, there was a funny dismissal which caught everyone’s attention. Batting at No.9, Ish Sodhi was out caught behind in a weird way. The Kiwi player was dismissed for one run after playing six balls at his disposal.
In the 17th over, Prasidh Krishna bowled a yorker to the 25-year-old. The ball after taking an inside edge hit the pads and popped straight to the wicketkeeper. Dinesh Karthik didn’t make any mistake as the umpires consulted the third umpire. Replays suggested the ball never touched the ground as Ish Sodhi had to return.
Here’s the video clip of Ish Sodhi’s weird dismissal:-
Earlier put to bat first, Jos Buttler guided RR to a fantastic start. The score notched up to 63 runs in the first five overs before Rahul Tripathi got out. However, wickets falling in regular intervals restricted the run flow. As a result, the Royals could only manage 142 runs as they were bundled in the penultimate over.
As for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunil Narine started off with a blast before getting out. While Robin Uthappa got out early, it was Chris Lynn and later Dinesh Karthik who went for the task. The skipper and Andre Russell managed to take Kolkata to the finish line at the Eden Gardens.
The hosts managed to win the game by 6 wickets with two overs to spare. With this win, their qualification for the top 4 stage relies upon themselves. If they win the next game, it will give them 16 points which will ensure a sure shot place in the playoffs. The next few days promise to be exciting.
