IPL 2018: Rajasthan Royals rope in domestic veterans in coaching staff
Indian veteran Ajinkya Rahane was also seen at the venue for the two day training camp.
The Rajasthan Royals are raring to take the field again in the IPL. Having served their two year suspension period, the Royals are back on the IPL roster along with the Chennai Super Kings as the other comeback side. The tournament is just a couple of months away and they have already started off their preparations for the tournament. The preparations for the Rajasthan Royals is in full swing at the moment – be it sweating out on the field, or be it their publicizing game on the social media.
In recent developments, it has been learnt that the franchise has roped in the services of two former domestic greats of the Indian domestic circuit. As per the recent reports in the Sportstarlive, the Rajasthan Royals have roped in former cricketer Amol Muzumdar and Sairaj Bahutule as the coaches of the team.
It is apparent that Amol Muzumdar, the former legendary Mumbai batsman, will be working in the capacity of the batting coach. Meanwhile, Sairaj Bahutule is set to work with the bowlers in the franchise. Interesingly, Sairaj Bahutule is not new to the coaching roles. He is the head coach of team Bengal in the Indian domestic circuit.
Official announcements yet to be made
While the two were seen working with the recruits of the Royals franchise, the officials of the camp have kept mum on the official announcements about the same. However, it is apparent that both Amol Muzumdar and Sairaj Bahutule will be working with the Royals’ cricket director Zubin Bharucha. Both Bahutule and Muzumdar attended the first two-day training session of the RR camp in the Brabourne Stadium on Tueday.
On day one, young guns – Aryaman Birla, Mahipal Lomror, S Midhun and Jatin Saxena – attended the role specification camp. Also, Indian veteran Ajinkya Rahane was seen at the venue. He was seen having a long chat with Royals’ executive chairman, Ranjit Barthakur. Rahane is expected to be a key player for the team in the upcoming season.
