IPL 2018: Ravichandran Ashwin comes up with a message after KXIP exit
Ashwin took to micro blogging site Twitter to thank the supporters of the Kings camp.
The Kings XI Punjab arrived in the IPL 2018 with a new look setup. They were under the leadership of ace Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, Ashwin had promised to be an unpredictable captain and made some very bold remarks. As the tournament progressed, his unpredictability was certainly on display. However, not all of his moves paid rich dividends for the side.
In the first six matches of the tournament, the Kings XI Punjab were a dominating force. They managed to win five matches out of the six that they played. However, they lost their plot horribly in the second installment. They could only win one game out of the 8 that they played. As a result, they had to crash out of the race for the playoffs and finished at the penultimate position in the points table.
If seen on a larger scale, they did not make much progress from where they were in the previous couple of seasons in terms of the rankings in the points table. In the last league game of the season, the Kings were against the Chennai Super Kings in a must win game. They had to win by a margin of 53 runs or more to qualify for the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Kings, they lost the game, and the margin part did not even come in to the picture.
The defeat has been a hard one to swallow for the KXIP camp including their skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. After the defeat, Ashwin took to micro blogging site Twitter to thank the supporters of the Kings camp. He also went on to comment that he hopes to come up with a better show for the Kings in the next edition of the tournament.
Here is what Ravichandran Ashwin had to say to his fans on social media:
“We had our moments in the first half of the tournament and not upto it in the business end, lots of learnings and positives from this campaign, looking forward to better things in the future and thanks to all those who supported us @lionsdenkxip this year. #IPL2018,” Ravichandran Ashwin wrote in his tweet.
