The Royal Challengers Bangalore started off their proceedings at the auctions very late. Although the RCB team is studded with stars, they never won an IPL trophy. Also, RCB this time decided to let go of their key players in the auction. They didn’t buy Chris Gayle and KL Rahul, who performed exceptionally well for them in the past.
The Royal Challengers made some interesting buys at the auction. They have got the English all-rounders Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes. RCB also brought the Kiwi all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme. In the batsmen set, RCB got the dynamic opener from New Zealand, Brendon McCullum. They also got a very good wicketkeeper in Quinton de Kock.
Moeen Ali’s pick surprises everyone
The Royal Challengers Bangalore made a very surprising pick at the auction. They brought the English all-rounder for Rs. 1.7 crores. Moeen hasn’t had a great record in T20I cricket. He just averages 14.43. Moeen also averages 28.57 with the ball at an economy of 7.69. He picked only 14 wickets in the 22 T20I matches that he played.
It is interesting that the Royal Challengers decided to buy him. There was a very keen discussion on the Royal Challengers Banglore table before they brought him. There were some talks on the phone before RCB zeroed on him. It will be interesting to see how many matches he will get to play in the league.
The Royal Challengers Banglore took it to Twitter to express their happiness about the pick. They tweeted that ‘It’s official! #BidForBold”. They also shared a link on their Twitter handle where the fans and some experts were seen discussing RCB’s auction strategy. Moeen Ali too started for the Royal Challengers Banglore on Twitter after he was picked in the auction. They also shared the picture of Moeen Ali following them.
