Rishabh Pant reminds him of a younger Yuvraj, says Mandeep Singh

Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Mandeep Singh finds a striking resemblance between young Delhi, Daredevils batsman Rishabh Pant and veteran cricketer Yuvraj Singh. After Pant slammed the superb knock of 85 from 48 balls against RCB on Saturday, Mandeep talked about the youngster and his innate ability to play those big shots.

Despite the fact that his knock ended in a losing cause, as it was eclipsed by the Superman AB de Villiers’ 39-ball 90, Pant’s innings still had a lot of character and a display of unbelievable strokeplay. In Mandeep’s opinion, Rishabh is one of those batsmen from the current generation who can send the ball flying into the crowds whenever he wants, just like Yuvraj could to do at his peak.

“Rishabh is amazing. When we were growing up, we used to talk about Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi paa used to hit those big sixes more than anyone else. I think, in this generation, Rishabh is one name, who can smack sixes like him (Yuvraj) at will,” Mandeep said. “He has immense ability,” he added with confidence.

AB is AB

When asked about the star of the night from his own team, AB de Villiers, Mandeep was in awe. “What can I say about AB? AB is AB. He does something or the other,” he remarked. “I am lucky and blessed to be playing with him and witnessed one of his best innings. That’s all I can say,” the 26-year-old said.

But he refuses to believe that the whole batting lineup of RCB depends solely on AB or skipper Virat Kohli. But given that they have two of the top batsmen of the world in the team, it is only natural that a lot of limelight falls upon them and so do the expectations, he mentioned.

“When you have two world’s best batsmen in your side, it is but natural that others are taken lightly. We are not heavily dependent on them, but since they are world’s best batsmen a lot of focus is on them, which is natural,” Mandeep concluded.
