Ahead of the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League, online entertainment platform Eros Now today said it will be the title sponsor of Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the upcoming season of IPL.It will continue to be the most prominently visible brand on the Royal Challengers Bangalore jerseys over the next three years.
The franchise has signed the GEC, OTT platform as the lead sponsor for the team, as reported by Indie Sport.Eros Now and RCB have agreed on a ₹54 crore, three-year association. As part of the deal, Eros Now shall pay ₹17 crore for the 2018 season. The deal for the 2019 and 2020 is valued at ₹ 19 crores and ₹20 crore respectively.
“Eros Now becomes one of the first OTT players to come on board as a sponsor of a league team at IPL 2018. The collaboration is a part of the company’s endeavour to build a true digital video brand with Indian users and provide the best of entertainment the country has to offer,” the company said in a statement.
Eros Now replaces Gionee as the shirt sponsor
It has replaced mobile handset brand Gionee as the RCB title sponsor. Gionee, the title sponsors for the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals in the 2017 IPL, has stayed out from the IPL this year. The jersey will also have the HP logo on the right chest, while DuraGuard logo will be cemented on the back of the jerseys. However, many fans dislike the new features on the jersey because it does not gel well with the red and black color scheme of the kit.
HP is the Bengaluru-based-outfit’s Principal Sponsor. Additionally, RCB players will be seen endorsing HP products in TV commercials. They will also enable opportunities for tech-savvy cricket fans to meet RCB stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Brendon McCullum.
