IPL 2018: Shane Warne in line to join Rajasthan Royals again
Royals will be returning to the IPL roster after serving a two-year suspension period.
Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne is in fray to join the Rajasthan Royals roster yet again in the Indian Premier league. The legendary former cricketer has deep connections with the franchise. Warne had successfully led the Rajasthan Royals to a title win in the very first edition of the Indian Premier League back in the year of 2008.
Interestingly, the Royals were the underdogs in the tournament with no big Indian player as an icon player in their setup back then. Shane Warne was the only overseas player in the edition to lead a team in the tournament. And he successfully led the Royals to a title win. They beat the Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the competition.
Since then, the Royals have had their minor forms of glory but still await another title win. With Shane Warne in frame to join the roster yet again, this could pretty well be a reality for the Rajasthan team again. Here is the catch though. Warner is in line to join the roster in the capacity of a bowling coach or a mentor.
He took to micro blogging site Twitter to suggest something similar. Albeit he did not make any direct announcements about the same, he did suggest that he is very close to making an important announcement in regard to the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Here is what Shane Warne recently tweeted:
“Looking forward to making an announcement to you guys this week which I’m very excited about & yes it involves the #IPL2018!,” wrote Shane Warne in his tweet.
Talking about the franchise, the Rajasthan Royals have managed to get back their core group of players for the tournament. Royals will be returning to the IPL roster after serving a two-year suspension period. Australian skipper Steve Smith is set to lead the team in the tournament this year. Also, they have the services of English all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is a hot property in the modern day cricket world.
