Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of India’s most skilful bowlers over the past few years. He used to be a one-dimensional swing bowler. However, he has refurbished his skills as his career has progressed. The 28-year old fast-bowler is currently representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He suffered a back injury earlier in the tournament, but has come back stronger. He has developed himself to an extent that he is regularly entrusted to bowl in the death overs. The Sunrisers played the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and the match went right down to the wire.
The visitors needed 12 runs off the last over and they had Colin de Grandhomme and Mandeep Singh who are more than capable of hitting the big shots. However, the Meerut-born cricketer dished out six consecutive Yorkers and conceded five runs in that over. As a result, the Sunrisers haven’t only raced to the top of the table, but nearly have ensured themselves a berth in the playoffs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds his nerves in the humdinger
SRH scored 146 runs and were bowled out courtesy of a flurry of wickets in the death overs. Kane Williamson scored a brilliant half-century, which was one of the primary reasons why the Sunrisers reached the score. During the run-chase, Virat Kohli and Co threatened to take the game away from them. Nevertheless, the bowlers stormed back and picked up some quick wickets.
The visitors lost wickets in heaps and SRH brought themselves back into the game. Grandhomme and Mandeep tried hard thereafter, but all in vain. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, the opener of the Sunrisers, was struck with awe by Bhuvi’s prowess with the ball and he subsequently took to Instagram and posted a picture of theirs along with a message which read
“This man is cool under pressure! 6 perfect deliveries to take us to another great win last night. #TopOfTheTable #orangearmy? @imbhuvi”
