IPL 2018: Siddarth Kaul reprimanded for breaching Level 1 offence
The BCCI media release confirmed the news.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) sensationally defended the low total of 118 against the hosts Mumbai Indians (MI) and thrashed them by 31 runs on Tuesday. Their bowlers were up for the challenge and executed their plans really well in the second innings. Siddarth Kaul was the man who was the shining light for them as he ended the match with the figures of 3/23 from his 4 overs. However, he was found guilty of breaching the Level 1 offence according to IPL code of conduct.
Siddarth Kaul was pumped up while bowling against Mumbai which brought the best out of him. He was venomous with his full-length deliveries in his second spell as he proved too good to the lower order batsmen. He pinned the likes of Mitchell McClenaghan and Mayank Markande in front of the stumps and ended the hopes of the hosts to win the game by scalping Hardik Pandya in the 18th over.
What is the reason?
“Kaul admitted to the Level 1 offence under 2.1.4 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanction,” the BCCI media release confirmed on Wednesday. For all the level 1 breaches during the tournament, the match referee’s decision is considered final and binding according to IPL Code of Conduct. Though the media release didn’t specify any more details, the reports in Cricbuzz suggest that Kaul’s animated celebrations in the face of Markande after picking the wicket prompted the move from the match officials.
The young bowler has emerged as one of the best for Sunrisers since last year and even this season he has 9 wickets to his name after playing 6 matches. It is no doubt that SRH is termed as the best bowling unit of the tournament but very few had given them the chance of defending the meagre total which they did easily in the end.
