IPL 2018: Sunrisers await Cricket Australia's decision before taking call on David Warner
David Warner stepped down from the vice captain's role for the remainder of the third Test against South Africa
Australian cricket has recently been marred by controversies. The ball-tampering incident involving Cameron Bancroft and Steve Smith has been greeted with criticism from the cricketing fraternity. Subsequently, Steve Smith and David Warner stepped down from the captain and vice captain’s role for the remainder of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town. Most recently, Steve Smith has stepped down as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
David Warner is the skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, however, he hasn’t taken any step, unlike Smith. Meanwhile, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are awaiting the decisions of Cricket Australia to decide Warner’s fate in the tournament. As per reports in scroll.in, VVS Laxman, the former Indian batsman and the mentor of SRH, has opined on their actions on their captain.
“It’s too early”- Laxman
“It’s very unfortunate what has happened in the Cape Town Test. As far as Sunrisers is concerned, it’s too early for us to comment. Because, it was, just which has happened the day before yesterday. We will wait for the or decision of Cricket Australia. The information available at the moment is very limited. So, we will wait for further information. If at all, the need be, then we will discuss that. As far as Warner is concerned, he has been an exceptional leader for Sunrisers group,” he said
The mentor also mentioned that due to lack of enough information the franchise won’t be able to determine the courses of action on David Warner.
