IPL 2018: Suresh Raina replies to Jonty Rhodes with a heartfelt message
Suresh Raina suffered a calf-injury during CSK's game against the Knight Riders.
Suresh Raina hasn’t had an overwhelming period in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After playing a couple of seasons for the Gujarat Lions, the Uttar Pradesh cricketer was retained by the Chennai Super Kings for whom he has been exceptional ever since the inception of the cash-rich tournament back in 2008.
The left-handed batsman has played a staggering 134 matches on the trot and hasn’t missed a single game, which is a testament to his stupendous levels of fitness. However, fate had something cruel in store for the vibrant Indian cricketer. During Chennai’s second game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chepauk, he tweaked his calf after which he received medical attention.
The first miss for Suresh Raina
He strained to make an impact and was dismissed after scoring 14 runs. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the next couple of games against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR). To the agony of CSK, they also slumped to their maiden defeat in the league following a herculean exhibition of batting by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Raina is expected to play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 22. Meanwhile, Jonty Rhodes, the former South African cricketer, has also shown concerns for the injured Indian cricketer. The 48-year old dropped a message on Twitter inquiring about the well-being of the cricketer. He wrote.
“Hope the injury has recovered little brother; have missed watching you in the field!”
