IPL 2018: Tom Moody backs Shikhar Dhawan to come good

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently on top of the table, courtesy their dominant bowling performances in the recent games. But, all is not well in the camp as they have to sort their batting issues before reaching the playoffs. The opener Shikhar Dhawan was expected to put up a dashing show in the absence of David Warner but that didn’t happen.

Shikhar Dhawan has managed to score just 198 runs in the nine games he has played thus far in the ongoing season. He scored two forty-plus scores at the start of the tournament but failed to continue the momentum after injuring his elbow. The head coach Tom Moody feels players like Dhawan come back strong and hurt someone.

“Shikhar came into this tournament in really good form. He showed that in early parts of the tournament (Scored 78* against RR and 45 against MI). He had a setback with an injury and that has also set back his momentum a little bit,” said Moody as per quotes on Hindustan Times.

“He certainly doesn’t look to be a player out of form. So, for me, whether it is tomorrow night or next in Pune, he is going to make an impact. Good players like Shikhar don’t suddenly disappear from the face of the earth. They’ll come back and hurt someone. Maybe tomorrow night it is,” further added Moody.

What next for SRH?

SRH has four more games left in the league stage. Their upcoming game is against Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. After the game against DD, the table toppers will take on CSK, RCB and KKR. With already 16 points in 10 games, SRH will aim to tighten their top position by winning their upcoming games. It’s always safe to keep themselves at the top two positions to qualify directly for the qualifier 1.
