IPL 2018: Twitter is worried about the rumour of MS Dhoni retirement
The 36-year old is currently in the twilight of his glorious career.
Once in a while, some news start taking rounds on the social media platforms, and then they just go viral quicker than a wildfire. The latest on the block is the rumour about MS Dhoni and his retirement. The former Indian captain has just led his IPL team, Chennai Super Kings to their third title. He himself has been in fine form throughout the tournament, and as fit as ever.
However, somehow the news of him hanging his cricket boots for good caught fire and like in most of these cases, a whole lot of people started believing and retweeting the same. Partially responsible for this is his comment, where he said that CSK might have to go through a tectonic transition in a couple of years when many of the senior players might not be available.
“The big shift will be after two years, where most of these players won’t be there,” MSD had said during one of the post-match presentation ceremonies. However, this could have been said in a generic sense as well, given many players of the current team are around 33-34, and they might not fit in the team in two years’ time.
MSD himself has not said anything about his own retirement directly, nor did he drop any direct hint in the post-match presentation of the final. However, given his love for the lack of theatrics and from the suddenness with which he announced his test retirement, one can never really be sure what is going on in his mind, which is one of the reasons he has been so successful as a captain.
Rumours aside, MS Dhoni is pretty much in a good shape, scoring 455 runs in this year’s tournament and also set a new stumping record in the final with 33 dismissals in the tally.
But whether he announces the retirement now or later, Tweeples have shown that they will be absolutely heartbroken when it happens. Some even went to the extent of saying that they will stop watching cricket if that happens. In the wake of the shocker of an announcement by AB de Villiers about his retirement, MSD fans are just a little bit wary about their favourite cricketer.
