The Royal Challengers Bangalore are out of the 11th season of the IPL. It is very unlikely for them to make it into the playoffs and there should be some huge miracles happening if they will have to get there. They lost in the virtual knockout game against the Rajasthan Royals today and have disappointed their fans yet again.
This is the 11th consecutive time that RCB has failed to win the tournament. RCB has had a very balanced side that went into the tournament this year. However, they failed to get their combinations right leading to severe disappointment. Umesh Yadav, who was RCB’s top performer with the ball this year spoke about the game against RR and also about skipper Virat Kohli.
‘Virat is a great player but hasn’t been among the runs’
Umesh Yadav seemed to be dejected after the loss. He performed well in the game but his side couldn’t get through. Umesh had the pitch to blame for the loss and opined that it was on the slower side. He said that there were no partnerships in the middle. “It was rather slow and we were off to a good score and had compiled 55 runs in six overs but we lost 3-4 quick wickets which hurt us. There were no partnerships,” he said.
Also, Umesh felt that the aggressive brand of cricket doesn’t always work. “They (RCB batsmen) have attacking style and despite the wicket is slow, they continued with it. Sometimes it comes off some time it does not,” he said.
He also shared his thoughts about RCB’s misfortunes this year. Umesh felt that they failed to get the execution of the plans right. “We have a good side but things have not come well. Sometimes it is bad batting or sometimes bad bowling. We have not been able to execute our plans.”
Also, he spoke about skipper Virat Kohli and stated that his inconsistency somewhat affected them. “He (Kohli) is a great player but unfortunately he has not been among runs. When we lose a player of his stature early it puts a lot of pressure on rest of the batting,” concluded Umesh.
