Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are currently struggling to make a mark in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But their skipper Virat Kohli has always raised above excellence with his performances in the middle which is no different this year as well. While the T20 format is known for the batsmen smashing the ball all over the park, Kohli has proved that the runs could also be accumulated in traditional ways. He is topping the list of the players who have taken most singles this season so far.
The rotation of strike is the most important foray of Kohli’s batting which he has never forgotten. He has so far amassed 349 runs in 8 outings and is the second highest run-getter of the tournament. Moreover, he has taken as many as 113 singles while also hitting 31 fours and 12 sixes during his stay in the middle which is absolutely stunning. It proves that one should not forget the basics of the game, doesn’t matter which format one is playing.
Who are the others in the list?
While Virat Kohli has topped the list, Ambati Rayudu is not far behind as he has picked 108 singles on his way to bagging the Orange cap with 370 runs. Even he has smacked as many as 20 maximums and 33 fours. The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Kane Williamson is also leading from the front for his team and has accumulated 103 singles. He is also third highest run-scorer in the race which proves that a batsman has to concentrate on the rotation of strike more often than not and the boundaries will automatically come.
However, there is a stark gap after the top 3 with the likes of Sanju Samson and Ajinkya Rahane following them with 84 and 80 singles respectively. It should not be surprising to see one of the top 3 carrying the Orange for the remainder of the season as they are following the basics of the batting properly.
