The game against Mumbai Indians was of utmost importance for Virat Kohli and his men. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played really well on the day and most importantly their bowlers were spot on. When the visitors needed 35 runs off last 3 overs, one would’ve given no chance to them the way their bowlers had fared so far at the death. But the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Tim Southee bowled well and landed their yorkers in perfectly to keep their opposition at bay after which Virat Kohli’s mind-boggling catch sealed the victory for them.
It was a special day for the Indian skipper as it was the birthday of the love of his life and wife Anushka Sharma. There was a buzz about him playing a special knock for her as she was sitting in the stands in the anticipation. He looked in good touch with the bat but unfortunately couldn’t score beyond 32 runs. But he more than made up in the field when things were getting tricky for RCB as Anushka had to stand up and applaud proudly for the efforts of her husband.
Catch that sealed the match
The game went until the last over with the well-set Hardik Pandya facing Tim Southee as Mumbai needed 25 runs in the last over. But their hopes were shattered off the very first ball of the over when Pandya slammed the slower delivery to long-on which came off the toe-end of the bat. The skipper Virat Kohli was stationed there as he ran in and put a dive to snaffle an amazing catch.
No wonder the crowd was thrilled and even Anushka who stood up to applaud his husband after a superb effort. The catch had won them the game with no proper batsman to follow for Mumbai. Eventually, the visitors lost the match by 14 runs as RCB grabbed the much-needed two points to keep themselves alive in the tournament.
