Rohit Sharma finds himself in a testing time this IPL. Not only is his team under his captaincy languishing at the bottom of the table with one win in 6 games, he has had a poor time with the bat as well. Apart from the 94-run-blitz against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he has been dismissed for 15, 11, 18, 0 and 2. Interestingly, his only good performance was the reason Mumbai Indians have one win.

The Mumbai Indians have faltered not in terms of captaincy or because of any major problems but because they have been unable to capitalize on the momentum in each match after they were put in the driver’s seat. The team boasts of some terrific individual performances with several players stepping up on different occasions but as harsh as it may sound, it is Rohit Sharma who is looking like a weak link with no contribution with the bat. Despite good starts at the top, the onus comes to a flimsy lower middle order because Rohit Sharma hasn’t been able to bridge the gap between the two departments. The moment he gets going, MI will not be languishing on the bottom.
