Sarfaraz Khan – Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had sprung a surprise by retaining the services of young hard hitting Uttar Pradesh batsman Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz arrived in the competition with a reputation of being a big hitter. But the 20 year old failed to capitalize on the chances that came his away.
Also, he largely failed to justify the retention price tag that he carried with him. His scores in the RCB outfit this season read – 6, 0, 5, 11, DNB, 22*, and 7. Now these numbers, by the standards of the tournament like IPL is totally unacceptable from any batsman.
Ben Stokes – Rajasthan Royals
The biggest name at the IPL 2018 auctions was Ben Stokes. The way he had justified his price tag of being the most expensive player last year instilled hopes in the minds of the Rajasthan Royals management. They managed to get his services but Stokes failed to replicate RPS heroics for RR colors.
Neither did Stokes perform well with the bat, nor did he come good with the ball for his side. In the 13 matches that he played, he mustered just 196 runs at a poor average of 16.33. He failed to score any fifty in the season. With the ball in hand, he could bag just 8 wickets and leaked runs at a high end economy of 8.18.
