Though Sachin Tendulkar was always the poster boy of Indian cricket, Yuvraj Singh became the superstar at the turn of the millennium. Without a shred of doubt, he is one of the greatest cricketers to wear the blue jersey. Yuvraj was the X-factor in both of India’s World Cup triumphs.

MI had plenty of openers and finishers but their major worry was an unstable middle order. So they are now expecting Yuvraj to be the lynchpin of the middle order on the account of his experience. The Ambani-owned franchise has brought in the southpaw not only to provide stability in the middle order but also to guide the youngsters.

If Rohit is rested then the onus of the team will be in the hands of Yuvraj, maybe even as a captain. He had led KXIP to the semi-finals in 2008 and has also captained Pune Warriors.
