Delhi Daredevils is one of the teams, which are yet to get their hands on the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. Ever since the inaugural edition of the event, they have been inconsistent. In the 2018 season, the franchise finished at the bottom of the points table with five victories from 14 matches. They initially had Gautam Gambhir as the captain and he was later replaced by Shreyas Iyer.

Prior to the next edition, they have let go 13 of their players. In a bid to turn their fortunes around, last season’s cellar dwellers need to be smart in the auction and turn out with a combination, which can perform in the middle. They have a purse of INR 25.50 and have to make optimum utilisation of their resources. In our article, we take a look at three players, whom DD can go after in the auction.

Sam Curran

The 20-year-old has grown leaps and bounds in the last few months after making his international debut against Pakistan at Headingley in Leeds. However, it was his knock of 63 from 65 balls against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham that brought him into the limelight. Being a newcomer to cricket at the highest level, Curran wasn’t afraid of taking on the Indian bowlers, which paid dividends.

He also showed potential with the leather in the match and then went on to bag the Player of the Match award. Even against Sri Lanka, he played the slower bowlers with expertise and looked pretty much at ease. In T20 cricket, Curran has 478 runs in 47 matches to go with 42 wickets. Apart from Chris Morris, the Daredevils don’t have a quality all-rounder and the English youngster can definitely fit the bill.
