The home side scored 205 runs in their 20 overs which was almost a match-winning score until the 16th over of the KKR Innings when the big hitter <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-five-bowlers-who-can-neutralize-andre-russell/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Andre Russell</a> went berserk and ensured that RCB lost their fifth consecutive tie in this year’s IPL.

Although many of the RCB fans would have almost given up any hope of their team getting into the playoffs this year. They might be thinking on the pattern “Yet another wasted year for RCB”. However, there are some reasons why RCB can still make it to the playoffs this year.

RCB has two of the best modern generation white ball batsmen in their kitty in the form of Virat Kohli and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-virat-kohli-and-ab-de-villiers-families-hang-out-together-in-bengaluru/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB de Villiers</a>. If a team has such a quality batting line up then anything can happen. In the match against KKR, the partnership of 108 between the pair was instrumental in setting a huge target of 205.

The Indian skipper scored 84 runs and it was a welcome return of form for him which is not only a good sign for RCB But for the Indian national team as well. If Kohli and ABD continue to play consistently in the remaining RCB matches, then everyone knows how damaging it can be for the other teams as these two have the capability to win matches single-handedly.

At the top, Parthiv Patel has been consistent to some extent. He might not have scored that big hundred or a substantial score but scores a quick fire 20-25 runs in almost every game and provides a good platform to the middle order to capitalize. Foreign players like Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Shimron Hetmyer also possess some big hitting abilities.

So, everything does not look gloomy for RCB. Batting has always been a source of strength. However, some work needs to be done in their death bowling and the fielding.

The Indian trio of spinners – <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/hope-you-get-437-test-wickets-stuart-broad-on-yuzvendra-chahals-comments-on-the-former/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yuzvendra Chahal</a> (Right-arm leg spinner), Pawan Negi (Left-arm finger spinner) and Washington Sundar (Right-arm off-spinner) — have the skill set in them to bamboozle the top batsman in the league.

It really takes a lot of guts for a leggie to play its home games at the Chinnaswamy stadium, where most people go for runs. It can really take a toll out of you. Chahal most of the times emerge out at the top and had made a strong case of being one of the best spinners in the IPL. He is the current purple cap holder of this season and is going stronger match by match.

Pawan Negi is a left arm finger spinner who is a gun fielder and is also a useful batsman down the order. He has also represented the Indian National side. In the only opportunity he got in the IPL 2019 so far, he bowled a magic spell getting the important wickets of Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa against KKR and fielded brilliantly in the match as well. RCB would be looking to use him more and utilize his all-round abilities.

Although, still not being tested in this year’s IPL, the teenager from Chennai can play a huge role in RCB entering into the playoffs. The offie is known for is economical spells and is a decent enough batsman too with a few centuries in the domestic circuit as well.

Sundar was named Man of the Series in the Nidahas trophy which was his first tournament for the Indian National Senior team and is a strong contender to be a prominent member in the Indian team for future.

RCB can find a place for Washington Sundar in the playing XI which can strengthen the bowling and lower order batting too which they are struggling at the moment.

Moeen Ali, the English cricketer is a world-class all-rounder who is a hard-hitting batsman and a very effective off spin bowler. The southpaw is one of the rarest cricketers who can be used as on opening batsman and an opening bowler too. He bowls very well with the new ball considering he is a spinner.

He has not been utilized to his full potential by the team management. He can be the floater in the team which RCB is looking for and can really play a major part in the upcoming matches of RCB.

Marcus Stoinis, the Aussie all-rounder along with Ben Stokes is amongst the best fast bowling all-rounders in the limited over format in the current scenario.

Stoinis has been brilliant in the subcontinental conditions both with the bat and the ball. He is a sound middle-order batsman who can play at any gear as when required. His ability to ball good cutters and slow balls can be used especially on the slow and sluggish Indian Wickets.

In the limited opportunities in the IPL 2019 so far, he has impressed all with his batting in the finishing stages and is expected to contribute more with the ball.

Tim Southee, the Kiwi quick has not been effective in this year’s IPL as of now. But considering his experience and success at the International level, one cannot rule him out. He could be just one performance away. It could be a lull before the storm.  He is definitely one of the best when it comes to death bowling.

The South African pacer is known for his top class bowling in the powerplay overs and in death. His return bolstered the bowling attack of the RCB which was struggling.

Stoinis is a street smart cricketer who does not have too much of pace but really has a good cricketing brain. He can deceive the batsmen with the change of pace and has a very good slow bouncer too. He is a handy bowler especially in the death overs apart from his batting abilities.

RCB also has a left arm fast medium bowler Kulwant Khejroliya who has impressed all while playing for Delhi in the Ranji trophy. The Indian trio of spinners – <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/hope-you-get-437-test-wickets-stuart-broad-on-yuzvendra-chahals-comments-on-the-former/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yuzvendra Chahal</a> (Right-arm leg spinner), Pawan Negi (Left-arm finger spinner) and Washington Sundar (Right-arm off-spinner) — have the skill set in them to bamboozle the top batsman in the league.
Yuzvendra Chahal
It really takes a lot of guts for a leggie to play its home games at the Chinnaswamy stadium, where most people go for runs. It can really take a toll out of you. Chahal most of the times emerge out at the top and had made a strong case of being one of the best spinners in the IPL. He is the current purple cap holder of this season and is going stronger match by match.
Pawan Negi
Pawan Negi is a left arm finger spinner who is a gun fielder and is also a useful batsman down the order. He has also represented the Indian National side. In the only opportunity he got in the IPL 2019 so far, he bowled a magic spell getting the important wickets of Chris Lynn and Robin Uthappa against KKR and fielded brilliantly in the match as well. RCB would be looking to use him more and utilize his all-round abilities.
Washington Sundar
Although, still not being tested in this year’s IPL, the teenager from Chennai can play a huge role in RCB entering into the playoffs. The offie is known for is economical spells and is a decent enough batsman too with a few centuries in the domestic circuit as well.
Sundar was named Man of the Series in the Nidahas trophy which was his first tournament for the Indian National Senior team and is a strong contender to be a prominent member in the Indian team for future.
RCB can find a place for Washington Sundar in the playing XI which can strengthen the bowling and lower order batting too which they are struggling at the moment.

3) A good set of travelling all-rounders

RCB has a set of two very good all-rounders in the form of Moeen Ali and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-marcus-stoinis-calls-rcb-the-biggest-franchise-in-cricket-world/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marcus Stoinis</a>.
Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali, the English cricketer is a world-class all-rounder who is a hard-hitting batsman and a very effective off spin bowler. The southpaw is one of the rarest cricketers who can be used as on opening batsman and an opening bowler too. He bowls very well with the new ball considering he is a spinner.
He has not been utilized to his full potential by the team management. He can be the floater in the team which RCB is looking for and can really play a major part in the upcoming matches of RCB.
Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis, the Aussie all-rounder along with Ben Stokes is amongst the best fast bowling all-rounders in the limited over format in the current scenario.
Stoinis has been brilliant in the subcontinental conditions both with the bat and the ball. He is a sound middle-order batsman who can play at any gear as when required. His ability to ball good cutters and slow balls can be used especially on the slow and sluggish Indian Wickets.
In the limited opportunities in the IPL 2019 so far, he has impressed all with his batting in the finishing stages and is expected to contribute more with the ball.

4) Death Bowling options

RCB in its bag has a good set of Death bowling options as well in the form of Tim Southee, Nathan Coulter – Nile and Marcus Stoinis.
Tim Southee 
Tim Southee, the Kiwi quick has not been effective in this year’s IPL as of now. But considering his experience and success at the International level, one cannot rule him out. He could be just one performance away. It could be a lull before the storm.  He is definitely one of the best when it comes to death bowling.
Dale Steyn
The South African pacer is known for his top class bowling in the powerplay overs and in death. His return bolstered the bowling attack of the RCB which was struggling.
Marcus Stoinis
Stoinis is a street smart cricketer who does not have too much of pace but really has a good cricketing brain. He can deceive the batsmen with the change of pace and has a very good slow bouncer too. He is a handy bowler especially in the death overs apart from his batting abilities.
Kulwant Khejroliya
RCB also has a left arm fast medium bowler Kulwant Khejroliya who has impressed all while playing for Delhi in the Ranji trophy. He is a decent death bowler and has learned a lot while working with the bowling coach for RCB – <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/its-very-difficult-to-go-with-the-same-eleven-every-time-says-rcb-coach-ashish-nehra/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ashish Nehra</a>.
The other Indian pacers Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini have bowled with pace but they have been predictable in the death overs and hence have gone for a lot of runs. Kulwant could be the pick for the next upcoming matches for RCB.

5) History may repeat itself

The main reason why RCB should not lose the faith of reaching into the playoffs is that it has been done before and it can be done this time around as well. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ten-facts-about-mumbai-indians-latest-pace-sensation-alzarri-joseph/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mumbai Indians</a> started the IPL 2014 in the same way and eventually reached to the Playoffs by defeating Rajasthan Royals in a nail-biting encounter, courtesy Aditya Tare hitting a six of the last ball of James Faulkner.
Talking about RCB in the 2009 season held in <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/former-south-africa-international-elriesa-theunissen-fourie-passes-away-in-a-road-accident/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">South Africa</a>, Kohli&#8217;s men had only won 1 out of first 5 matches and they eventually ended the season being the runner ups losing to Deccan Chargers.
Right now RCB is in a delicate position and they need to win almost everything in order to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. One team which has the ability to do it is certainly the Virat Kohli led side. Batting is not a major problem. However, an improvement in the fielding standards and some shuffling of players could be what RCB is looking for to turn the tide.
