IPL 2019: Aakash Chopra impressed with RCB pacer Navdeep Saini's pace and accuracy
Saini clocked 150 plus speeds against the Mumbai Indians.
Hailing from Haryana, Navdeep Saini has certainly come a long way. Unlike modern pacers who rely on their variations, Navdeep trusts his accuracy and swing more than he trusts his pace. What’s eye-catching is that he is deceptively fast and his deliveries nip through the surface.
The 26-year-old is consistent with his performances and his constant ability to generate raw pace at an excess of 140+ speeds make him hard to face, particularly with the new ball in his hand.
Standing at 5’10”, Navdeep is not the tallest going around but his sudden and quick bouncers are enough to rattle any in-form batsman. Known to mix up his lines and lengths well, Saini was the epicenter of a bidding war between various franchises and his services were snapped up by the Bengaluru based outfit, Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping sum of 3 crore rupees.
Former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra is a well-known analyst of the game and his channel, #AakashVani bears a testament to that. Impressed by the showing of the 26-year-old pacer from Haryana, the 41-year-old tweeted, “Loving what we are seeing from Navdeep Saini….pace and seam position. Straight lines. Must invest in him. #RCBvMI #IPL #AakashVani” on his Twitter handle.
You can have a look at the tweet here:
Navdeep Saini’s recent breach of the 150 kmph barrier has got the fans talking in the right way and it certainly has got the right set of eyeballs set on him. Should he harvest his ability to generate raw pace coupled with swing and the ability to pick up wickets at regular intervals, it will not be long enough before we see the fast and furious bowler from Haryana in national colours. Post the ICC CWC 2019 and for the next two years, Navdeep Saini has more or less, cemented his place as the next Indian seamer to watch out for.
