Ambati Rayudu is not having a very good 2019 it seems. After almost reaching the brink of making it into India’s 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019, Rayudu has become a subject for either ridicule or analysis as everyone is trying to figure out why his name was removed from the Indian team.
Virat Kohli had endorsed him to be the batsman at the no.4 spot for the Indian team for the mega ICC event, only to change his tune and saying that the management was still looking for options and finally, Vijay Shankar usurped the spot thanks to his performances in New Zealand and against Australia at home. Rayudu’s form deserted him at the wrong time and even in the IPL 2019, he has managed just one fifty to his name.
RCB official Twitter account trolls Rayudu
In the match between RCB and CSK, Rayudu made a brilliant fielding effort in the 13th over. On the second delivery of the over, Rayudu saved the ball from going to the boundary and then fired the throw back at the bowler’s end, hitting the stumps direct. Akshdeep Nath, however, had made his crease in the meantime.
This led to RCB’s official Twitter handle taking a sly dig at Rayudu’s 3D glasses tweet. If you may remember, MSK Prasad, the chief BCCI selector, had released a statement on Rayudu’s exclusion from the World Cup squad, saying “After the Champions Trophy, we tried quite a few people at No.4. We gave a few more chances to Rayudu. What Vijay Shankar brings is three dimensional. We are looking at him at no. 4 to begin with.”
This led to Rayudu making that infamous tweet which read, “Just ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup”. The tweet went viral with over 90,000 people liking it and over 14,000 people retweeting it.
Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup 😉😋..

RCB’s Twitter account made a reference to the 3D glasses in mocking Rayudu’s direct hit to the stumps, writing, “Oof. What a throw from the boundary by Rayudu. But Aksh was in. Don’t need 3D glasses to see that.”
