IPL 2019: Andre ‘Muscle’ Russell raring to switch on ‘destruction' mode for KKR
Russell is currently KKR's leading run-scorer in this IPL.
There’s absolutely no doubt in the fact that Andre Russell is one of the biggest hitters of the cricket leather and he can make a mockery of the best of bowling attacks. The same has been on display in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The hulk-like Jamaican is currently plying his trade for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and he hasn’t flattered to deceive by any stretch of the imagination.
However, in the Knight Riders’ last encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC), he injured his shoulder after being hit by a vicious beamer from Harshal Patel. Later, he came to give an interview along with an ice-pack. Nevertheless, to the Men in Gold and Purple’s relief, he is back into business after skipping net sessions for a couple of days. KRR posted a video of the same in the official Twitter handle.
The franchise captioned the video and wrote, “Guess who’s back He skipped the nets for a day after copping that blow to his shoulder, but it didn’t take long for @Russell12A to get back to his regular drills #KKRHaiTaiyaar #DreRuss #KorboLorboJeetbo,”

As far as the match against the Capitals is concerned, Russell screeched in pain for a significant period of time. He clutched his shoulder and was attended by the physiotherapist quite a few times. Nevertheless, he carried on batting and kept depositing the ball over the ropes. He came to bat after the fall of five wickets and ended up scoring 62 runs off 28 balls with four fours and six sixes.
He was eventually dismissed by Chris Morris. The 30-year-old is currently KKR’s leading run-scorer in the tournament with 159 runs at an average of 79.50 and a strike-rate of 248.43. He was the Purple Cap holder before being overtaken by the likes of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner, both of whom scored centuries in their erstwhile encounter, representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
