IPL 2019: At base price of 20 Lakh, Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube set to trigger bidding war
Having played 5 First Class matches thus far, he averages over 64 with the bat with 2 centuries to his name.
The much awaited list of shortlisted players for the upcoming IPL auctions floated the media earlier in the day. As many as 346 cricketers have been shortlisted to go under the hammer in the auctions next week. This includes 226 Indian players, capped and uncapped. There are certain big names that are bound to get some serious attention at the auctions.
Also, there are some dark horses, the little known names, who could pretty well trigger a bidding war as well. Among those little known yet supremely talented cricketers is Shivam Dube. Shivam Dube serves his trade for Mumbai in the domestic circuit. In the ongoing domestic season, the all-rounder has been in a phenomenal form.
Having played 5 First Class matches thus far, he averages over 64 with the bat with 2 centuries to his name. With the ball, the medium pacer has scalped 21 wickets in 5 games at a miserly economy rate of just 2.37. When it comes to the shortest format of the game, Shivam Dube has been a success story there as well. He has played 13 T20s thus far, as on December 11, 2018, and has picked up 10 wickets.
Also, he bats with a strike rate of 147.65. The options that he would provide to the team certainly needs no introduction. And what adds to the attraction is the fact that the 25-year old has his base price set at just INR 20 Lakh. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him trigger a massive war at the IPL auctions. Among his recent performances, he bagged 7/53 in a Ranji Trophy game against Karnataka. With the bat, he hit a brilliant 114 against the Railways in another Ranji Trophy match.
On the radar of teams
With the auction date coming close, a lot of pundits have started predicting the kind of players every team would be eyeing to fetch at the auctions. Given the talent of this all-rounder, it is likely that almost every team would want to have him on the roster. Teams like Rajasthan Royals or Kolkata Knight Riders could show keen interest in buying his services. Also, do keep an eye on the Delhi Capitals who would look to revamp their setup at the auctions.
