Hat-tricks, best bowling figures in the history of IPL, unbelievable match-winning knocks &#8211; the second week of IPL 2019 has been spectacular. This highly entertaining week saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finish at the top of the points table. They are followed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the next three spots.

As far as the individual performances go, David Warner still holds the Orange Cap. The Purple Cap, though, has changed heads and is worn by Kagiso Rabada currently. While these caps take into consideration the entire tournament, there have been some great performances in this week alone. With their brilliant shows, these cricketers have tried their level best to help their team win the games.

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team has played two games in the second week. The first game was against the Delhi Capitals where <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/kl-rahul-is-respectful-towards-women-reckons-kxip-owner-preity-zinta/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KL Rahul</a> scored 15 off 11 balls. He hit two fours and one six in that innings and his team won the match by 14 runs. In the other game against CSK, Rahul played a valuable knock of 55 runs in testing conditions. However, he took 47 balls to score those runs and left too much for the end. His team lost that game by 22 runs.

2. Virat Kohli | Royal Challengers Bangalore

After a poor outing in the first week, RCB skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-michael-vaughan-advises-india-to-rest-virat-kohli-after-rcbs-sixth-loss/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virat Kohli</a> fared decently well in the second. His team played three games this week. Virat started off with a failure against the Rajasthan Royals. In that game, he got out after scoring 23 runs as Shreyas Iyer got him bowled. His best knock of this season came against KKR where he mustered 84 runs off 49 deliveries. Under pressure, he played an uncharacteristic knock against DC where he scored 41 runs. He failed to finish well in that game. Yet, he remains one of the better openers of this week.

Former Australian skipper Steve Smith is finally back amongst the runs. The injury of Sanju Samson turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him as he batted at number three in both the games this week. Initially, he had heavy strapping on his elbow and thus wasn&#8217;t able to generate the power in his shots. In the game against RCB, he scored 38 off 31 balls. He played without the strapping against KKR and was the best batsman for his team. Smith was unbeaten on 73 off 59 balls in that match.

Sarfaraz Khan had two fruitful outings in the second week. The 21-year-old started off with a well-compiled 39 off 29 balls against the Capitals. He smashed six fours in that innings and looked good. In the next game when he faced CSK, he didn&#8217;t repeat the mistake of throwing the start away. He wanted to take it deep and scored 67 runs off 59 balls. Even though he would have wanted to accelerate towards the end, Khan failed to do so.

5. MS Dhoni (c)(wk) | Chennai Super Kings

MS Dhoni&#8217;s Chennai Super Kings faced their first defeat of this season against the Mumbai Indians. MS Dhoni didn&#8217;t have a fruitful outing in that match. Even though he showed the intent, he couldn&#8217;t make it big and got out after crawling his way to 12 off 21 balls. But he proved that he is a man made of steel when he faced KXIP in Chennai. The pitch, by no means, was easy to bat on in the second half of the innings. The skipper scored 14 off the first 15 balls. Then in the next 8 balls, he scored 23 runs and finished things well for his team. His knock made the potential difference in this game. His captaincy was also spot-on.

Mohammad Nabi followed up his terrific outing against RCB with two other brilliant performances this week. First, in the game against DC, he picked up two wickets and gave away just 21 runs in 4 overs. He also finished the game for his team with the bat by scoring 17 from just 9 balls. He did well against the Mumbai Indians as well where he conceded 13 runs in four overs and also picked up a wicket. But he failed to deliver with the bat in this match as he could only score 11 runs.

In the game against RCB, he came in when there was immense pressure. 53 runs were to be scored off the last three overs and the Jamaican did it in style with 5 balls to spare. After taking some time to settle initially, he smoked 48 runs off 13 balls in an innings that included 7 sixes. His strike rate was just under 400 in this game. His services weren&#8217;t required against RR in what was an easy win for his team.

Hardik Pandya had a vital role to play in both the Mumbai wins this week. He was on fire in the game against CSK. He came in at the end and smashed 25 from just 8 balls which helped MI post a mammoth score. Then, he picked up three wickets with the ball including that of Dhoni. In the game against SRH, he took his time initially since there were a lot of overs left. He tried to attack Rashid Khan but couldn&#8217;t. He scored just 14 runs in that innings.

In this T20 world where there is very little space for finger spinners, two of them managed to get into the best XI this week. Ravichandran Ashwin had a fruitful outing against the Delhi Capitals where he picked up two wickets. His best performance came against CSK in Chennai. He first accounted for the wicket of Shane Watson. Then, he dismissed a well-set Faf du Plessis and followed it with the wicket of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-suresh-raina-praises-csk-fans-for-cleaning-stands-in-chepauk-after-kxip-clash/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Suresh Raina</a> on the next ball. All the three wickets that were picked in the innings were taken by the off-spinner.

Shreyas Gopal had a dream outing in the second week for the Royals. Against RCB, he picked up the big fish Virat Kohli first. Then he also accounted for the wickets of the dangerous <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-virat-kohli-and-ab-de-villiers-families-hang-out-together-in-bengaluru/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB de Villiers</a> and Shimron Hetmyer. The leg-spinner followed up this exceptional performance with a great outing against KKR as well. He was the only bowler from his team who picked up wickets in that match. He tried to get his team back into the game but it was too late by then as Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine took the team off to a flyer.

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rohit-sharma-impressed-with-alzarri-josephs-statement-i-dont-celebrate-wickets-i-celebrate-win/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alzarri Joseph</a> is the wildcard entry into this eleven. The 21-year-old, on his debut in the IPL, was outstanding. The Caribbean pacer picked up a wicket right off the first ball that he bowled and dismissed the dangerous David Warner. He also bagged the crucial scalp of Vijay Shankar. By the time the innings ended, Joseph picked up 6 wickets in just 3.4 overs and returned with the best figures ever in the IPL. Even though one game is too small a sample size to judge someone, this has got to be the best performance of the week.

The 21-year-old, on his debut in the IPL, was outstanding. The Caribbean pacer picked up a wicket right off the first ball that he bowled and dismissed the dangerous David Warner. He also bagged the crucial scalp of Vijay Shankar. By the time the innings ended, Joseph picked up 6 wickets in just 3.4 overs and returned with the best figures ever in the IPL. Even though one game is too small a sample size to judge someone, this has got to be the best performance of the week.

Hat-tricks, best bowling figures in the history of IPL, unbelievable match-winning knocks &#8211; the second week of IPL 2019 has been spectacular. This highly entertaining week saw the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finish at the top of the points table. They are followed by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the next three spots.
As far as the individual performances go, David Warner still holds the Orange Cap. The Purple Cap, though, has changed heads and is worn by Kagiso Rabada currently. While these caps take into consideration the entire tournament, there have been some great performances in this week alone. With their brilliant shows, these cricketers have tried their level best to help their team win the games.

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team has played two games in the second week. The first game was against the Delhi Capitals where <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/kl-rahul-is-respectful-towards-women-reckons-kxip-owner-preity-zinta/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KL Rahul</a> scored 15 off 11 balls. He hit two fours and one six in that innings and his team won the match by 14 runs. In the other game against CSK, Rahul played a valuable knock of 55 runs in testing conditions. However, he took 47 balls to score those runs and left too much for the end. His team lost that game by 22 runs.

After a poor outing in the first week, RCB skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-michael-vaughan-advises-india-to-rest-virat-kohli-after-rcbs-sixth-loss/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virat Kohli</a> fared decently well in the second. His team played three games this week. Virat started off with a failure against the Rajasthan Royals. In that game, he got out after scoring 23 runs as Shreyas Iyer got him bowled. His best knock of this season came against KKR where he mustered 84 runs off 49 deliveries. Under pressure, he played an uncharacteristic knock against DC where he scored 41 runs. He failed to finish well in that game. Yet, he remains one of the better openers of this week.

Former Australian skipper Steve Smith is finally back amongst the runs. The injury of Sanju Samson turned out to be a blessing in disguise for him as he batted at number three in both the games this week. Initially, he had heavy strapping on his elbow and thus wasn&#8217;t able to generate the power in his shots. In the game against RCB, he scored 38 off 31 balls. He played without the strapping against KKR and was the best batsman for his team. Smith was unbeaten on 73 off 59 balls in that match.

Sarfaraz Khan had two fruitful outings in the second week. The 21-year-old started off with a well-compiled 39 off 29 balls against the Capitals. He smashed six fours in that innings and looked good. In the next game when he faced CSK, he didn&#8217;t repeat the mistake of throwing the start away. He wanted to take it deep and scored 67 runs off 59 balls. Even though he would have wanted to accelerate towards the end, Khan failed to do so.

MS Dhoni&#8217;s Chennai Super Kings faced their first defeat of this season against the Mumbai Indians. MS Dhoni didn&#8217;t have a fruitful outing in that match. Even though he showed the intent, he couldn&#8217;t make it big and got out after crawling his way to 12 off 21 balls. But he proved that he is a man made of steel when he faced KXIP in Chennai. The pitch, by no means, was easy to bat on in the second half of the innings. The skipper scored 14 off the first 15 balls. Then in the next 8 balls, he scored 23 runs and finished things well for his team. His knock made the potential difference in this game. His captaincy was also spot-on.

Mohammad Nabi followed up his terrific outing against RCB with two other brilliant performances this week. First, in the game against DC, he picked up two wickets and gave away just 21 runs in 4 overs. He also finished the game for his team with the bat by scoring 17 from just 9 balls. He did well against the Mumbai Indians as well where he conceded 13 runs in four overs and also picked up a wicket. But he failed to deliver with the bat in this match as he could only score 11 runs.

In the game against RCB, he came in when there was immense pressure. 53 runs were to be scored off the last three overs and the Jamaican did it in style with 5 balls to spare. After taking some time to settle initially, he smoked 48 runs off 13 balls in an innings that included 7 sixes. His strike rate was just under 400 in this game. His services weren&#8217;t required against RR in what was an easy win for his team.

Hardik Pandya had a vital role to play in both the Mumbai wins this week. He was on fire in the game against CSK. He came in at the end and smashed 25 from just 8 balls which helped MI post a mammoth score. Then, he picked up three wickets with the ball including that of Dhoni. In the game against SRH, he took his time initially since there were a lot of overs left. He tried to attack Rashid Khan but couldn&#8217;t. He scored just 14 runs in that innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin had a fruitful outing against the Delhi Capitals where he picked up two wickets. His best performance came against CSK in Chennai. He first accounted for the wicket of Shane Watson. Then, he dismissed a well-set Faf du Plessis and followed it with the wicket of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-suresh-raina-praises-csk-fans-for-cleaning-stands-in-chepauk-after-kxip-clash/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Suresh Raina</a> on the next ball. All the three wickets that were picked in the innings were taken by the off-spinner.

Shreyas Gopal had a dream outing in the second week for the Royals. Against RCB, he picked up the big fish Virat Kohli first. Then he also accounted for the wickets of the dangerous <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-virat-kohli-and-ab-de-villiers-families-hang-out-together-in-bengaluru/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB de Villiers</a> and Shimron Hetmyer. The leg-spinner followed up this exceptional performance with a great outing against KKR as well. He was the only bowler from his team who picked up wickets in that match.
