When Rajasthan Royals finished their innings against Kolkata Knight Riders, it looked like the pitch was tough to bat on. The likes of Jos Buttler, Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith struggled to get going as Royals managed to put up just 139 runs on the board despite losing just three wickets. However, once Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine came out to chase the total, the pitch looked like a batsman’s paradise.

The duo fired on all cylinders right from the word go to put the Royals on the backfoot. By the time the sixth over ended, the Knight Riders had raced away to 65 for no loss. The openers continued to hit the fours and sixes after the powerplay too. And while the officials and fans were definitely enjoying those big sixes, one cannot say the same about one of the sponsors when one six from Lynn almost shattered the window frame.

On the second delivery of the eleven over bowled by Shreyas Gopal, Lynn went down on to his knees and slammed the slog sweep flat out of the ground. The ball landed straight on the glass of the demonstration car but fortunately, the four-wheeler managed to avoid any serious damage.

Here is a clip showing that incident

Knight Riders, meanwhile, went on to win the game by 8 wickets. After Narine (47) and Lynn(50) departed, Robin Uthappa and Shubman Gill helped the team cross the line with 37 balls remaining.

‘Rode my luck’

Lynn would have departed on just 13 in the fourth over when Dhawal Kulkarni managed to breach his defence. However, the bails did not come off the stumps even after the ball hit the timber with good force. Speaking after the win, the Australian admitted that he rode his luck before praising his opening partner Narine who was the aggressor during the partnership.

“Rode my luck again. But we knew we had to go hard in the powerplay. It slowed up as the innings progressed. It was a nice powerplay and we were in cruise control after that. I nicked it, so I thought I was gone one way or the other. It happens in T20 cricket. Unbelievable (batting from Narine). He has done it for a couple of years now. We don’t talk too much. Just keep it simple. I am traditionally a slow starter. It is a long tournament, we are building nicely with important wins,” said Lynn.
