MS Dhoni is the heart and soul of the Chennai Super Kings franchise and the three-time IPL winning captain has rarely missed any matches for the team. CSK faced Sunrisers Hyderabad, as Suresh Raina captained the team with Dhoni missing a match for the first time since 2010.

Chennai lost the match and though Dhoni was seen having fun on the field, playing football and doing other stuff with the team; there are still question marks about his fitness for CSK’s next game against RCB on Sunday. Back spasm was the reason why MS Dhoni had taken a day off and it seems the problem hasn’t gone away completely and the management is fretting over his availability for the remaining matches.

CSK CEO confirms that Dhoni will take a call on his fitness

MSD is a part of Team India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 and it seems like he isn’t taking any risks and aggravating his injury further by playing for CSK in upcoming matches. “His availability for the next game is still not known. We still can’t say. He will take the right call,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath was quoted as saying by Times of India.

The Chennai team has 14 points from nine games and needs at least two more wins to ensure their qualification into the playoffs, as 18 points though on the higher side is the qualification parameter.

Furthermore, there is still no clearance over the use of three stands at the Chepauk, as the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) authorities are not confident of gaining the required authorization for the use of the stands. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made that compulsory for the playoffs and the final to be staged in Chennai.

If the permissions do not come in, Bangalore could be a playoff venue with the final moving to Hyderabad. “It’s status quo at this stage, we have still not got any permission,” said a TNCA official as per the same report.
