IPL 2019: Chris Gayle declared fit for the game against CSK

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will be locking horns today at the MA Chidambaram stadium in an afternoon game. Both the teams have won three matches each out of four and will be looking to climb to the top of the points table with a victory in this game. Ahead of the game though the visitors have been boosted with Chris Gayle’s return as he has been declared fit for the contest.

Chris Gayle wasn’t 100 percent fit in the previous game against the Delhi Capitals which was the reason Sam Curran replaced him in the playing XI and also at the top of the order. The youngster did extremely well scoring 20 off just 10 balls and then took a hat-trick with the ball to sensationally turn the game in KXIP’s favour. It will be interesting to see whom they will drop for Gayle now.

Agarwal confirms the news

Mayank Agarwal, in the pre-match press conference, confirmed that Chris Gayle is fit but cheekily went on to say that he is not sure if he will play. “I can’t tell you whether he (Chris Gayle) is playing or not (laughs), but he is fit,” he said. Mayank was all praise of the opposition terming them as a quality team but was chuffed about his own team more and felt that sticking to basics and their strengths is important.

“It (CSK) is a quality outfit and it knows the ground well. It is an experienced side and it is quite ruthless when it comes to Chepauk or elsewhere. Important thing for us would be to stick to our strengths and do what we are doing well. We can take a lot of heart from the last game. Keep believing, keep backing and keep executing our skills.

And if we do that and stick to our process, we should play good cricket. From there, the result will take care of itself,” KXIP’s middle-order batsman further added.
