Social media has played a huge role in the popularity of Indian Premier League (IPL) and each of the eight franchises boasts of millions of fans on social media and have even taken digs at one another as they are on verge of clashing with one another in the tournament. IPL 2019 saw some really funny banter between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Twitter as their official handles made fun of each other.
The Kolkata Knight Riders toured to Chennai to face the home team Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, better known as Chepauk. To create hype for the match, KKR cited Andre Russell’s amazing match-winning knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore and challenged CSK by posting “Moonu naal la meet pannalam”, which roughly translates to, “let’s meet in three days.”

Chennai Super Kings respond in kind to KKR’s dig with a jibe of their own
Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders were humbled by the MS Dhoni’s CSK, as KKR managed just 108 runs on a slow, low pitch at Chepauk that CSK chased down losing just three wickets. Russell scored an unbeaten fifty despite injuring his wrist during the innings and Du Plessis responded with equally brilliant innings for CSK.
The CSK Twitter handle saw it as the right time to respond to KKR’s jibe after CSK’s win took them to the no.1 spot in the points table of IPL 2019. The funny Twitter banter was enjoyed by fans of both teams and as they appreciated the sense of humour of both the franchises. Even the CSK Twitter officials didn’t let the opportunity go to mock KKR’s tweet made earlier and retorted by tweeting, “Nice meeting you! WhistlePodu #Yellove #CSKvKKR”

The funny Twitter banter is essential to keep the fans of both franchises happy and it shows that despite the hot rivalry between teams on the field, off the field things are as normal as they seem and the players tend to leave issues on the field and enjoy each other’s company off it.
