It’s about time fans realized that the South African ace-pacer, Dale Steyn, is not going be a regular in international or in franchise/league Cricket. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) recruit developed another severe shoulder injury after feeling discomfort in only his second game in the ongoing 2019 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, he had to fly out to South Africa immediately as his injury is also a concern for the national team right ahead of the World Cup.

Earlier the 35-year-old South Africa fast bowler was bought in as a replacement for the Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile, who was also ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 12. Steyn, who went unsold at the auction two times in a row, got a chance to play in the IPL once again.

Moreover, it was also a reunion for the cricketer and the franchise as Steyn was a part of the RCB team in the inaugural season of the marquee T20 league in 2008 and played for the franchise until 2010. Steyn finally made his comeback appearance for the team against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on April 19. He gave a tremendous start to the bowling and was able to hold the KKR batsmen back and also picked two wickets.

Even in his last game for Bengaluru, Steyn bagged two wickets giving away just 29 runs, a match that RCB won by just 1 run. It can be said, that for a team that lost their first six games of IPL 12 in a row, Steyn’s comeback was a huge positive. But with him and Coulter-Nile gone, RCB’s pace attack has been weakened. Needless to say, that the fans of the Bengaluru-based franchise are upset with Steyn’s exit.

Not just them, with the World Cup knocking at the door it is certain that the South African fans might also be worried about the veteran pacer. Even though in his absence, the RCB were able to defeat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Wednesday, the fans are surely missing Steyn and what better proof than Twitter itself. Disheartened fans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore took to Twitter to express their distress.
