IPL 2019: Durex churns out a hilarious advertisement on Ravi Ashwin ‘Mankading’ Jos Buttler

On Monday, March 25, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns in their respective first matches at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Though the visiting team won the game by 14 runs, its first at the venue, the game was somewhat marred by a massive controversy, surrounding the Royals’ opening batsman Jos Buttler and Punjab captain Ravi Ashwin.

During the Royals’ run-chase, Buttler was looking ominous after scoring 69 runs and the visitors were well and truly on the mat. Just when it seemed as if the game went out of KXIP’s radar, Ashwin resorted to taking a step that created a furor in the cricketing fraternity. He ‘Mankaded’ Buttler at the non-striker’s end and the dismissal brought about a batting collapse for the Royals.

Buttler was backing up too much and Ashwin showed the presence of mind to whip the bails off in a flash. Subsequently, he appealed and the umpires gave Buttler out. The decision enraged the Englishman and he went back to the dugout, venting his frustration out. The experienced Ashwin was also seen pretty animated on the cricket pitch. There have been mixed reactions on the incident.

Durex comes up with a creative advertisement

While a number of them believe that Ashwin’s actions were against the Spirit of the Game, many of them, including the likes of Rahul Dravid and Mitchell Johnson defended the off-spinner. The MCC also released a statement, saying that he was within his rights to dislodge the bails. In the meantime, Durex, a condom-manufacturing company, came up with something hilarious on the ‘Mankad’ incident.

Previously, Durex churned out some superlative advertisements surrounding the cricket developments, which also included the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, Prithvi Shaw’s maiden international century against the Windies and Virat Kohli’s marriage with Anushka Sharma. Durex didn’t disappoint even this time and sent a message of ‘protection’ through its advertisement.
