Despite the tournament being a fair way away, the preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have begun. It has captivated the fans’ attention since its inception in the year 2008. What makes it even more interesting is the presence of Bollywood stars, businessmen and the best players from each and every country coming together to bridge all the gaps.

On November 15, the list of the players retained and released by each of the franchise were proclaimed. There have been a few releases which most did not see coming but plenty of them have come on the back of players not living up to the expectations.

Playing seven games, he could manage to score only 115 runs with a high score of 44. His weakness against spin was rapidly exposed. He was awarded the player of the tournament in the showpiece event. However, post that, the left-hander has been considerably inconsistent. Glenn Maxwell is one of the volatile players in the world. The Australian all-rounder had first came into the IPL scene in the year 2012, as a replacement for Travis Birt in Delhi Daredevils, however, played only two games.

In the 2018 season, he was called up as a replacement for Nathan-Coulter Nile in the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad. The replacement proved to be awful as Anderson had grown as a liability. His bowling didn’t prove to be any productive as he took only three wickets from three matches at an average of 38 and an economy rate of more than 13.
His batting hadn’t been any fruitful, scoring 17 runs in three matches. Anderson’s release was only due to the fact that he couldn’t bring any positive impact to an already sliding team in the points table.

Glenn Maxwell is one of the volatile players in the world. The Australian all-rounder had first came into the IPL scene in the year 2012, as a replacement for Travis Birt in Delhi Daredevils, however, played only two games.
The 2014 season had been the most productive of the lot for Maxwell. Having played 16 matches for Kings XI Punjab, he amassed 552 runs. He was on fire, especially the part of the season which was played in the UAE. However, his performances went slightly lean when the tournament was shifted to India.
In the subsequent seasons, the 30-year old’s performance were going substantially down. In spite of that, Maxi was purchased by the Delhi Daredevils for a whopping price of Rs 9 Crores. He made only 169 runs in 12 matches at an abysmal average of 14.
Parting ways with Maxwell for Delhi Daredevils was unavoidable as a player worth a mind-boggling price could hardly trouble the oppositions.
